Isn't it pointless to submit your application right away. By this I mean, don't the applications submitted before June all go out together anyway so you might as well keep working on it?
So I guess my real question is: If I submit my application right now, won't it just get to the dental schools at the same time as if I submit it in a week?

For the most part, yes.

Get it done ASAP, but not at the expensive of a crappy application.

1 week is probably harmless, but 1 month...probably not so great.

Doesn't aadsas say they need 4-6 weeks to process your transcripts? If so then it wouldn't be until mid to late june?

Once you sumbit the application, you can check on aadsas the exact day when everything was mailed out.

pretty sure they start processing before june 1 since they say it takes 4-6 weeks to process

The reason to submit early as possible is that if x+100 ppl submit before you and they only process x before first batch, yours will not get sent in 1st batch. Also if you have any problems you will want to know as soon as possible. Because of a missent transcript and god knows what, AADSAS sat on my app for 8 weeks last year. Early early early!!!

I submitted my application 2 weeks after it opened (end of May? or around June 1) and my AADSAS application page said that they were delivered July 14 or around there somewhere. I know there was a batch sent out before mine because I called and asked about it.

This is what I saw last year...

If you submit early i.e. June 1st, it really doesn't matter if you're in the first batch, you'll probably be in the first few, so it's not a big deal.

The above posters are right...it's more important that you transcripts get there fast. If you submit early but your transcripts don't arrive until 5 weeks later...you've lost your early send out.

Also, the batches last year seemed to be in lots of a certain amount. Let's say they are in lots of 200 and AADSAS sends out two batches a week. If you either submit late or get your transcripts there later than the first 200 people...then you aren't in the 1st batch. If you submit after the first 400 people who submit AND get their transcripts there before you (whether it is before or after June 1st) then you aren't in the 1st or 2nd batch. That's how it seemed last year.

Finally, the 4-6 weeks is both a process your transcript AND send out your packet general rule of time. It isn't a given that within 6 weeks of your transcripts arriving your packet will go out. Also, it usually only takes a few days after AADSAS receives your transcripts before you'll see that it says your transcripts are processed....but you'll still get to wait several weeks before your packet goes out...why...who knows. That's what tended to happen last year.

Is your dad a dentist? Did he graduate from UOP? Or did he donate a lot of money to them... if not tell him to get on it... 😀 and you will be at UOP come next August!

I suggest you not call it UOP anymore. Try University of the Pacific, or Pacific for short.

I've heard that in every 500th University of the Pacific Hoodie Sweatshirt they secretly sew a piece of sheep-hide paper that says "You've won admittance to Pacific School of Dentistry." You take it to the school and Dr. Ferillo takes you on a submarine ride through the school.

I don't really know what to tell you that isn't obvious. Just because I got in doesn't mean I know of any secret keys to the school. I can tell you the obvious stuff....again.

Score above 20 on Reading Comp. Score high on your other DAT sections as well, but if you don't get in the 20 on QR...no biggie.

Keep your grades at around 3.3 or above.

Go to Pacific Pride Day and don't be afraid to talk and ask questions of students, deans, alumni, other guests.

Don't be a kiss up. If you think you're kissing up...you are. If you think other people are saying "what a kiss up" behind your back...you're kissing up.

Show a genuine interest in the school if you have a genuine interest. Find other reasons for that interest besides the 3 years and SF.

Figure out the personality of Pacific and the needs of the school. Prove through your actions, personality, and words that you fit in with the school and can help fulfill the needs of the school.

Try to treat everyone in your life like they are the most important person at that moment. I know...that's a cheesey statement...but I say it because if you do that, and it's not something that just comes to everyone, then when you meet people at Pacific who might interview you or who might help you, you'll make a good impression on them.

And yes, if you have connections to the school or have $ to donate...it could help...and it could hurt. I've heard of a bribe attempt by a dentist trying to get his son in that went very very bad...can't recall if it was even Pacific anymore...but obvious bribes are bad.
