if you type into google "summer research programs," you'll get A LOT of options for summer programs that are geared towards MD/PhD and PhD. However, most are generally more geared towards PhD.
I'm going to a summer research program at Harvard this week, so PM me in a few weeks or months if you want my opinion on the program. I applied to a few this year including Yale BioSTEP, Cornell Access to Research, Johns Hopkins SIP, NYU SURP, Harvard SHURP, UCSF SRTP, etc. From what I've heard, they are all great programs. You just have to apply broadly because they are highly competitive.
