interfolio LOR!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i have another question. does interfolio automatically know which schools to send via electronic upload versus snail mail or do you need to specify how to send letters to each school?

also some schools did not ask who the letter writers are and so how will they know when they get the letters from interfolio that that's it? do they assume that?

If you use the search function in Interfolio, they sometimes will automatically fill in that information. Then, you just need to click on "My Deliveries" and it should show how your letters were delivered. Processing takes at least a day before there's any status change. You should receive an e-mail from Interfolio indicating that they've been sent.

All I've used so far is interfolio. Some schools utilize only paper or hard copies mailed via conventional USPS, others require electronic deliveries. Practically all schools either use one method or the other. In choosing the school you can either search for their code in interfolio's database or you can manually enter the address yourself. Either way, if the school utilizes conventional couriers it will be mailed that way, if electronic your LOR's will be sent that method. After you send the letters your interfolio account will tell you what method was used and to which school your letters were sent. If it's electronic then their pretty much sent automatically.

so is interfolio like magic? 😍

Yep. I pity the days where a letter of recommendation from a prof meant MANY letterS to be sent out. Oh, and how did applying work without the Internet?? My have times changed!

Did you guys get the 1-year or 5-year account? Does anyone know if the recs saved on a 1-year account are lost even if that account is renewed?

Not lost if you renew. I choose the 5 year account just in case. It is really not that expensive when you compare it with the the rest of your application costs. I figured better safe than sorry.
