Hi all,

As I'm writing secondaries I figure it would be a good idea to get my letters in order since it may take a few days for all the processing. Is everyone sending the letters from interfolio to AACOMAS or just sending them to the schools separately? I remember reading back in May that sending them to AACOMAS caused them to be corrupt files....I'm just trying to avoid unnecessary complications (like everyone haha)

Thanks!!

Not sure about this year, but last cycle I sent all of mine to the individual schools

If I do this I have to somehow attach my AACOMAS ID to each letter though, correct? Do you remember a section telling you where you could put that? I cant contact all my letter writers again and tell them to update it with my ID...thats too much

In Interfolio you can append the AACOMAS or AMCAS ID to letters (as you chose) before sending them to the specific locations. I sent mine to AACOMS last week and they seemed to process fine.

How did you send them to amcas exactly? Don't they ask for a professors email?

When you log into Interfolio there is a way to input your AACOMAS Id to your account. Then when you start a new delivery you just click "I would like to associate an ID with this account" and send your letters directly to schools. You have to pay $6 per delivery but the letters always get there and they are not corrupted. The money is worth not having to deal with AACOMAS in my opinion.

If you send them through AACOMAS, there's no way to designate which letters go to which school, correct? Some of the schools I'm applying to don't want more letters than what they've asked for but others don't mind. So is it okay to send the core letters (2 science, 1 non-science) through AACOMAS and then an extra letter to a specific school via interfolio?

Agreed no need to even deal with AACOMAS.

I would assume so yes. Interfolio allows you to pick and choose which letters go to which schools.

Got it thanks! I will do that considering the difficulties people are having with AACOMAS...

. Seems like a lot less work to just send them to AACOMAS (assuming it works).

Agreed.

Should I seriously be worried that my letters will be "corrupted" by sending them to AACOMAS? I wanted to save myself some time and money by just sending them all to a central application. Has there been trouble with delivery through AACOMAS in the past?

This is the first year AACOMAS has handled the letters and there has been nothing but trouble. MSUCOM for example can't download any of the letters and is asking people who attached LORs to AACOMAS to sign up for Interfolio and send them in.

So I would be worried if I had used AACOMAS.

Thanks for the info. I'm really glad I chose to use Interfolio to manage all my letters then. So to clarify, I send my LORs to the schools directly once they send me secondaries (and make sure to attach my AACOMAS ID to them?

For those that have delivered their LORs already: is it $6 per delivery (regardless of the number of letters), or is 1 letter considered a "delivery?"

Yes. Send directly and attach ID.

It is $6 no matter how many letters you send.
