Subject: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship Opportunity for July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026
We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for OMFS candidates to join the Atrium Health/Wake Forest University School of Medicine Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Non-Categorical Internship at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Clinic: Faculty and resident clinic (M-F); approximately 3-4 days a week.
· OR: Assist OMFS faculty in trauma, orthognathic, pathology, reconstruction, TMJ, and complex dentoalveolar surgeries, or perform resident-appropriate surgeries with attendings assisting; approximately 2-3 days a week.
· Call: Home call covering service call 365 days/year, OMFS call (average 1 week per month), and facial trauma call (1 weekend/month) for level 1 trauma center and surrounding areas. Call and holidays are shared / split up between 3 interns.
· Hospital: Manage inpatients at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Main Campus, Levine Children’s Hospital, and Atrium Health University City Health.

· Unique opportunity for full-scope OMFS practice without mid-level or chief residents, allowing you to work directly with attendings and eventually function more as a mid-level resident than as an intern.
· 4 weeks paid vacation/PTO + CDE stipend ($1900).
· Salary: $65,000 (PGY-1) [$68,000 (if entering as PGY-2)] + benefits + meal allowance.

· Supportive OMFS faculty who have arranged for flexible time for extra CBSE study, away rotations to gain opportunities to improve chances for matching, plating workshops, etc.
Pre-requisite Training: Graduation from a CODA-accredited Dental School.
