just wondering, how are international/canadian students assessed? what is the general success rate of these applicants?

I think they are considered as a separate pool from the US candidates and from what I have read, the stats threshold is slightly higher for internationals. You can check those number on the various tables that AAMC provides online by ethnicity, international status, etc etc

Not all schools even accept International students and those that do expect higher stats etc.

tldr: Some schools accept foreign students, but it's not common.

Well there is an International forum on SDN. Not sure what happens there but maybe you should check it out.
