1) number of seats in IDP... 30 seats
2)living expenses in mexico...around a 1000 $ a month,if you want to rent a house by your self.
3)quality of the programme as compared to US dental school....Never been to US program,I can't tell.
4)patients inflow...Enough amount of patients.
5) do they have roling admissions and when is the deadline to apply....You can contact the school regarding this issue.
6)hw is the faculty, r they fluent in English or students have communication problems wid them...Faculty is very nice, good people,no problems to deal with at all. They do speak English, but you still have to learn Spanish,at least to talk to your patients.
7) crime rate in mexico and personal safety....Leon is a safe city to live in,never heard about any troubles with any of us.
8)chances of admission wid part 1 score of 86....Good,though it's not the main issue.
9) wat do they ask in their theory and practical exam....Typical general Dentistry questions.the practical was class II and crown preparation for me.
10)after graduating r u directly eligible for licencing exam in California or there r some loopholes....First generation of the IDP already practicing in California now.

Can I ask what are worried about??
The school is being straight forward with you. It's your call now, take it or leave it.It's not like you are doing a favor for the school by going to the interview.
Good luck

I would just go ahead and apply if I was you, don't wast more time.
Regarding the residency/citizenship thing, not actually sure, but I'm sure that you need an immigration status in the US before applying to the school.
Good luck

Thank you🙂🙂

I am presuming we will be allowed to practice only in California with the degree...right?

I got accepted in La Salle for 2010-1011 IDP program....
Well i can say about applications, interviews and responses but living there not yet...The program will start on january 4th of 2010.
I applied in the beggining of this year(very easy to apply, just go to their website www.universidaddelasallebajio and go to international program then you will have all the information to apply), got an invitation in april and my interview I had 3 choices of dates to choose from, I chose may 22nd....Interview questions that I remembered:
1)Why you applied to this dental school?
2)What's your current job?
3)What do you do in detail your job?
4)Why did you come to America?
5)Are u married?
6)If you are married what does your husband/wife think about you coming to Mexico to finish your studies?
7)what does your husband/wife do for living?
8)How are you planning to pay the school?
9)who exactly is going to give you money to pay your school?(I guess they asked me that bc I answered that my family has the money to pay it)
10)What do you like best in dentistry?
Well, my interview was half Spanish and half English...it was my choice since I didn't want to go back there for a fast Spanish course...I speak Spanish...I know from another candidate that they asked him if he would be okay about coming back to learn Spanish...SO if you don't speak Spanish is okay if you compromise to come back to learn the language because of patients...
My clinical examination: do a class 2 MO in the 30 and a PFM in 8 (handling typodont, there was no head or stick for it)
There was a theorical exam of 105 questions (basically questions similar to NBDE part 2, there was a micro question of NBDE part 1)
and you will be able to get a license ONLY IN CALIFORNIA STATE...I live in L.A. and I love it, so for me ALL GOOD...
Good luck for you guys!!!👍

Congradulations maiabrazil!!!
Thank u for ur infos about interview, it's really hepful 🙂

Hi I want to apply to la salle. I want to ask dat do we have to study in english or spanish? or we shuld be fluent in spanish to just communicate with patients?
wht r d job prospects in CA after stuying there, as students are eligible to give only CA license?

thanks

Well, all the classes are in English...But patients will only speak Spanish, it would be good know some Spanish, but if you don't know there's no problem since there are 16 students who did the Spanish classes before starts school here...It is mandatory if you don't have proficiency in Spanish...The applicantions already started and the first interview group will be in march...as for the license in California , it seems La Salle is working on get accreditation in whole U.S. not only California...but for while only CA maybe you get luck and next year already starts for the whole U.S.
I love CA and i am not going anywhere else in U.S. so for me is all good...

could you tell me, if I send the notarised copies of toefl, NBDE and ECE.....
that will do or not?
do we have to transfer money frm our bank account for application fees?
thanks.

GDCH, it'll be ok if you just sent notarized copies. I spoke with someone from there today and i asked that very question so no worries!

could tell me wht to read for theoritical questions?

The theorical test is composed of 105 questions....there are questions from microbiology in part 1(what is the main culprit of caries? strep.mutans, endo, pros(know oclusion such as definitions of: C.O.,C.R.,maximum intercuspidation...) , pharm(barbiturates)...know the color of the endo files( I had one question asking file number 30 is what color??),surgery...Anyway, I don't remember anymore but this is what I remember for now...For preps: practice class 2(posteriors) and PFM in anterior...Be confident in the interview...actually in ANY INTERVIEW at ANY DENTAL SCHOOL BE CONFIDENT!!!
:luck: BEST LUCK FOR YOU :luck:

I am sorry I don't remember what type of typodont they used, but I guess is columbia... I asked three classmates and they also don't remember...🙁
