nternational Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP) Delegation on Medicine.

You have been specially selected for this honor due to the exemplary academic performance and the leadership skills you have displayed as a member of the National Dean's List®. As a scholar in the Delegation on Medicine, you will join some of the most highly regarded college students in the nation on a journey of discovery and career focus to one of the most exotic destinations in the world.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your selection! It is precisely the personal dedication, focus and academic excellence that you display that separates the National Dean's List and its members from other college organizations. I believe strongly in holding values such as these in high regard and rewarding them whenever possible.

I got an invitation in the mail for this and I am considering doing it (the China trip). However, the 5k price tag is definitely not too appealing. I'm sure it will look good on your app if that is what you are asking. But probably wouldn't look any better than most ECs.

I thought everyone got this invitation. Considering how expensive it is compared with a tour for the same amount of time, to the same country, I looked at it as money-making opportunism on the part of some random organization. Mine had a choice of several different countries.

I also got one of these.

Seems like a scam to me.

I also have gotten this (each year since I started college) I never went though- I decided to do other less expensive study abroad. It sounds cool and when my parents saw it they said they wished they could send me but they are saving to pay for application/travel fees next summer/fall...

if you are interested and have money do it but I wouldn't just to put on your application. Seems like a lot of money and I don't know if it would be that beneficial

This is not a scam. I'm saying this out of experience. I got the invitation to the International Scholar Laureate Program because I participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum. Comparing the two invitations, the director is the same person. Therefore, it is logical to conclude that this is not "fake."

I believe that one can definitely learn a lot from what the program offers - not just from the discussions and workshops but also because it is an experience of a lifetime. To be able to travel and learn with peers who share the same interests as you.... seems fun.

It IS very pricey, however. I cannot afford the trip, but if I find a scholarship for it, I will go. And if you're rich and the price isn't an issue... go for it b/c I'd love to be in your shoes. Hope this helps =]
