As an international student, life is pretty hard. There are virtually no financial aid of any kind, and acceptance into a public school is harder finding a needle in a haystack. Unless you are exceptionally smart (which I don't doubt... congrats on your admission to U of C!) and can pull off an exceptional score on the MCAT, AND have loads of money to spare for school, it is going to be very difficult.
I have found that a good direction for me is to pursue a degree that allows you to obtain a permanent residency (green card) fairly easily -- then you can get a job and work, save up a few bucks for med school, get some life experience, and be eligible for loans and grants, and also gain access into public schools, which mostly accepts tax-paying instate students. For me, I am going into nursing first. It only takes two and half years, there is a big shortage, so it is easy to obtain a green card. But before all this you should definitely consult a lawyer -- I have lived here since I was 8 yrs old, and always planned to settle in the US. Due to uncontrolled circumstances, my legal status is in a state of limbo, and I ended up as F-1. As with many, your circumstances may be a lot different -- I am just putting in my 2 cents and hope it helps a little. 🙂
