Hi! There I'm a international student from China. I've been in the states for 5 years. I know international students have low chances in getting accepted. I was wondering what schools I can apply to that will give me the best chances. I have the 2014 adea guide and looking at the admittance for international students is very low.
I have a cumulative gpa of 3.86 and sgpa of 3.9.
I will have approximately 60 hours shadowing in the USA and 500 hours out of country shadowing a endodontist and orthodontist
I have over 500-700 documented hours of medical translation for hospitals (voluntary)
I have worked as an IT specialist for two years at a community college
I have worked over two years as a library assistant at my university
I have work as a transfer student leader for a year
My mother and brother is also a dentist in China.
My Dat scores are 20AA, 21TS, 23 PAT, 19 QR
I will have a committee letter from my professors
I will have a letter from a sister (catholic professor)
I will have a letter from another science faculty (strong letter)
I will have a dentist letter soon.
I need some input I am having a stressful time. I plan on getting married by the end of this year with my fiancé who is a U.S citizen. Please help thank you

Just to clarify, are you applying this cycle or next cycle?

I'm wanting to apply this cycle. I'm looking into Creighton and nova.

You may want to repost this in the International Dental forum for other international predents to help you out.

The letter from the sister probably is not a good idea.

Your stats are competitive even for an international student and your extracurricular looks pretty good also. I'm also an international student (based on technicality) and I'm starting at a CA dental school soon so here's my input:
- Apply wide and broad to most schools that give decent chance of international acceptance (I would avoid Texas dental schools unless you somehow qualify as a resident). You can see the percent acceptance of international/out of state from previous year's stats
- Don't focus on prestigious name or cheapest schools but definitely look into schools that are not the cheapest or the most prestigious
- Ace those interviews you receive (this also means, apply ONLY to schools you are willing to go)

- Now, if you can wait until next cycle to apply (already getting pretty late in the cycle, especially for international apps) and get your green card, your choices of schools and chances will greatly increase

Good luck!

Can you redirect me to the international section? I am new to the forums.

Thank you for your reply. Can you tell me the list of schools that you have applied to?

When I meant a letter from a sister, I meant from a professor. I go to a private catholic school and one of the sisters is a professor. She is not my sister sorry for the confusion.

Dental dodge is right. Unless she is a Science professor , the letter probably isn't too relevant. If she taught you religion or theology or whatever , it might not be a god idea to use. Remember you can only have 4 total. Preferably 2 science , 1 dentist , 1 of your choice ( community service or boss) would be good.

Probably too late this year unless you're willing to spend some money
If you do committee letter, you will only have 1 letter left, which usually people use the letter from a dentist
It's fine to have some shadowing hours outside of the country but you should bring the shadowing hours inside the US to a hundred
Expensive private schools are your best bet
If you do apply next cycle some research wouldn't hurt
Good luck bro

She is also my transfer leader boss. I have one committee, one science and one dentist. Do you think that is enough?

Again if you do committee letter you will only have 1 letter left. You can have either 4 individuals or 1 committee+1 individual
