I am a sophmore student (well just finished sophmore year) in a University in Ireland. I am currently studying biochemistry. I am interested in going to dental school in the U.S after I graduate to do the 4 year DMD programme. I have been doing some research and it appears that a lot of schools do not accept undergraduate degrees from outside of the U.S and Canada. I was really interested in BU and Tufts. I know that BU do not accept foreign undergraduate degrees. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is the case for all dental schools or just some? Any information would be great! Thanks!

I'll try to answer your question by explaining what I did because I was somewhat in the same situation except I had a Masters (MBA) from a US school:

Computer Science Undergrad from India
MBA from Rice Univeristy
Took all the ds pre-reqs from CC in the US
3 upper level science courses (BioChem, Histology, Immunolgy) from local State Univeristy
Applied (9 Ds) - Interviewed (8) - accepted (5 )

so, you might have to take some courses here in the US...

Good luck...

I graduated from Trinity in Ireland with my bachelors degree in business and French in 2005. I worked a few years before deciding I wanted to go to dental school- I moved to California and completed all of the science and english pre-reqs at a state school and am currently applying. I've talked to a lot of schools and they will recognize your degree but all of the listed pre-reqs for dental school need to be done at a school in the US. It took me 3 semesters to finish. Hope this helps.
