International volunteer work

I would like to go abroad to do volunteer work on AIDS/HIV, hopefully somewhere in Africa. But I do not have the funds. Do any of you know of any grants that I could apply for or any programs that cover the cost of transportation?

if you're willing to take a year off between MS-3 and 4, the NIH has a newish fellowship - fogarty-ellison

my husband and i were in botswana last year (he's the one who actually got the fellowship; i tagged along for the ride 🙂 - PM me if you have any questions about it!
