Hello SDNers,
To keep things simple:
Dr. A- Old, nice guy who owns the practice. Easy to assist for and really likes me.
Dr. B- My mentor and dental role model. I did all of my shadowing with her and she is absolutly amazing and teaches me every chance she gets. She wanted me to get involved in pouring models, making retainers, and ultimately got me this internship at the office.
Dr. C- This is my assigned Dr who I assist whenever he is in the office. He is frazzled and harder to assist but teaches me a lot and really seems to like me. He likes that I am predental and we get along well.
Dr. D- No one likes this Dr and when I say no one, I mean the owner of the office renovated to move her operators to the opposite side of the office. She used to be a dental school professor though. "I hire brains, not bodiess." "If you need to cry on Monday, go to the bathroom and come back with a smile on your face."
Anyways, I was offered a chance at some overtime pay to assist Dr. D on Monday. She claims to want to teach me "more than those doctors do on the other side of the office." But she is known for firing assistants on the spot and I fear that while I may learn a lot that I may be fired on the spot. She literally expects her assistants to do everything though and I don't know everything yet. I've learned to do impressions, am certified to take xrays and am able to take decent xrays, and feel comfortable working with patients. However, while I know all of the instruments I don't know where they are in the opperatories that Dr. D works in. She also uses completely different cements, bonds, and composites. What do I do?
I figure she is trying to truly teach me, make the other doctors jelous, or get me fired since she hates Dr. B and Dr. C. Advice?
