Internship

I was reading the APA intership guide recently and it said that 5 percent of people don't get place on internship. My friend said that those 5 percent were probably from non APA accredited programs and everyone from an APA program gets an internship, although it may not be their first choice. is this true? Has anyone ever known a grad student who made it through his/her program only not to get an internship? thx

It is possible for strong candidates not to match the first year they apply due to small number of places they appliedto or ranked. I am in my PhD II right now and am considering applying in September for a small number of places (3 or 4) in my close area. If I don't match, I plan to apply more widely the following fall....all depends on how successful my data collection is next semester...
