Hi guys, I have a quick question. Does anybody have experience with deferring loans during OMS Internship? Is it possible/doable. If so was it difficult and who did you talk to, to fill out the form? Who may I contact for further questions?

My concern is that even though during internship one is a full time student/resident (perhaps even more than that) the position is still not accredited and i was worried if that comes into play when deferring loans.

Thanks for your response

It depends on the type of loan and the loan provider. Just contact your loan provider and ask them what options are available - the phone number is at the top of that statement you have been receiving at interval since you took out the loans/otherwise contact your school's financial aid department. Many of them have what is called an economic hardship deferment which is based on income rather than your in-school/residency status - you will more than likely qualify.
