Internships timeframe

Hey guys!

Ok so I'm about to start an internship this summer..however..I got an internship for next summer in Boston. And I also have a couple other internships that I can do next summer and have more time to participate with them. However, that's the summer before senior year..and ill be applying to medical schools early summer. Will it be pointless if I intern next summer since ill be in the application process? Or will they be on my application too? Should I squeeze them in before next summer? Help please I'm stuck! Thanks!

There's no guarantee that you will get accepted to med school when you apply. There's a chance that you will have to re-app, and additional internships might come in handy. Take all the opportunities you have as if you will not get in the first time.

With that said, it is not pointless to do your internship during the application process. Just make sure you are ahead of your plan, pre-write secondaries, and get your PS ready to go early, so that it won't bother much with your time commitment for your internship.

If I remember correctly, it is not advised to put future activities in AMCAS. However, you are more than welcome to mention your internship (the one that you will be doing during the application process) in your secondary essays.

You don't have to squeeze them in before next summer. I have a friend who did her research internship after she got accepted and before she matriculated, because she didn't want to lose that opportunity just because she couldn't squeeze it in previous years.
