Is there a good way to crack these problems?

drug X blocks prophase from occurring, which phase of the cell cycle would most cells be arrested?

I mistakenly chose G1 because i figued there were two parts 1. prophase willnot occur, thus, 2. the cell would not be growing then and preparing for division. The question was simply G2, suggesting that to find an answer to a question like this you would simply chose the stage before what is getting blocked.

I seem to recall the opposite happening before.. Any advise?

"I seem to recall the opposite happening before."

@TheMightyTexan

What do you mean by that?

I think it's best to assume that the phase immediately before is the answer in most cases. Sure, it might not be logical for G1 to occur but unless something blocks it, it will occur.

Think about it this way:

Let's say you have diabetes and don't produce insulin. So technically, there is "no point" for the body to produce insulin receptors. After all, that is a waste of cellular resources to make receptors that will never be used. But unless there is something explicitly preventing the production of insulin receptors, they will continue to be made.

@justadream alright good deal i will just answer as most straightforward on those as possible, good explanation.

Also, i was just meaning that i thought i came across a question where it wasn't so straight forward like that and required a bit more examination. Nevertheless just wanted to get some imput since all a remember is missing these questions and dont feel like i should be since its such a simple process.
