What is the earliest date we might have to start internship? (medicine or transitional year) I know they have orientation weeks and things like that, and I'm having trouble figuring out what plans I can make after graduation for a friend's wedding. Thanks!

Thanks.
Second week of June? Damn. I guess I won't be a bridesmaid after all.
Oh well, that will save me a lot of money anyway!

Don't make that decision based on what someone heard once on a message board. Just call or email all of the programs you are applying to and ask what the general date is that the pgy-1 year starts. Tell the secretary your dilemma - noone is going to not interview or rank you because you were trying to decide on whether or not you could go to a wedding. By the way - that is one of the questions I ask during the interview so I know for sure when I will be expected to be there.

Why not? He's right
Virtually no prelim/transitional years start on july 1. Other fields may start on july1, but they want you there a week before for "orientation"
