Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask everyone who is going/doing/finished interventional fellowship.
What are the expected starting skills? How many diagnostics and PCI's have you done during your general fellowship?

My understanding is, you want to do at least 300 diagnostic caths before going into interventional fellowship.
Required skills before starting are just a full unsupervised diagnostic cath via femoral and radial approach. And panning (depending on program). I know that doesn't sound like much but think about all the decisions you would make (choosing catheters, etc.) without an attending giving you input.
You really don't need to have performed PCIs during general fellowship. Obviously it helps. (for reference, I just finished general fellowship this year and am working for a year before starting IC fellowship next year....don't know if any IC fellows can have other input).
