Yes, I have the typical "just starting med school" questions about this subspecialty (i.e. salary, lifestyle, etc), but I also wanted some information on what an interventional radiologist does. Normally I would use the search feature. A little while ago I read an amazing post on all that radiology has to offer (I think it was by Voxel) and I can't even find that as a reference. WBC? Voxel? Others? Thanks!

Here's the great post from Voxel about rads. Very helpful!

Make sure you read the message boards at www.auntminnie.com as well. Even look at the general radiology board where they discuss IR often. I think IR is great, but you do tend to work harder (hours) and are on call more but you really don't get paid any more than the other people in your group doing general rads, maybe a little extra because you're taking more call. Radiology is an excellent profession and is currently in need because there is a pretty good shortage right now. At one of the hospitals I was at, the IR had admitting priveledges and rounded on patients as well, albiet there was typically only a couple patients a day and a max of about 5 or 6, so it's not as big as a surgical service, but you still can get a bit of patient contact.
