interview advice

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If I were you, I would come up with many convincing reasons on why you are so exclusively interested in that particular program. This is dangerous, because you can come off sounding "fake", but if explained correctly this may play to your advantage. This is definitely the approach I would take rather than saying "My stats aren't great and I just wanted to see what happened, so I applied to your school..." Good Luck

hey guys,
so i only applied to one school this cycle because i didn't think my stats were all that great. my attitude was "let's just see what happens" more than "i hope i get in".. but miraculously i got an interview! coming up really soon actually.

i'm just afraid they'll ask me what other schools i applied to, and by telling them i only applied to one school, it'll look like i'm passionless about dentistry and won't do everything humanly possible to get into dental school (ie apply to several schools so i have a chance of getting in at least somewhere). i really do love dentistry and couldn't see myself doing anything else, it's just that i figured i'd save a few dollars and my self esteem this cycle by applying to my state school, my best bet for getting in, and then reapplying next cycle to a bunch of places if necessary.

what should i say if they ask?

Actually schools do not like to hear that you have applied to other schools. If you say you only applied to their school because it is the only school you would ever even consider going to I believe that you will recieve extra bonus points. Even if they don't ask, you should try and bring it up.
