I know this may be a lame question, but i was wondering if wearing contact lenses over glasses is better because it doesnt show that you eyes are weak since it is important to have good eyes as a dentist. thanks

i don't think it really matters......just make sure you look professional overall.

yeah, i don't think it makes a difference. You could also look at it this way if you're worried about showing that you have good eyes: It's more important that you maintain good eyeSIGHT no matter what you were born with, and people who wear glasses/contacts usually get exams once a year or can tell pretty quickly when a prescription's getting old, so their eyesight is usually as good as can be. And then people who have good eyes all their life, well, those good eyes will go at some point, and those people are less likely to do anything about it because either they're too proud of their good eyes, or they just don't know what is considered bad enough to go get an exam. I only say all this cuz my dad was actually talking about this with me while I was home for break, about how his eyesight's going now but because he had good eyesight all his life, he let it go much longer than he should have, and because it was so gradual he didn't realize how bad it really was.

DO NOT GO IN WITH GLASSES. This shows a sign of weakness, not only in your sight, but in your character. Go with the contacts, preferably ones with the shade of a lime green. They'll be entranced by them and want to give you admissions.

I actually went to a few interviews with a massive hangover and had the reddest eyes you have ever seen. In that case, I would suggest you wear glasses. Otherwise it doesn?t matter to the school, they?re interested in whether or not you can communicate in a friendly and competent manor ? even if you smell like a brewery.

I say wear a pair of sunglasses (perscription if you'd like). This way they'll see that you are aware of the damages that the sun can do to your eyesight, and they'll see what a cool dude you are.

As long as you're not walking into your interview with dark glasses and a seeing-eye dog, your fine. 😀

Dont sweat the small stuff. You're thinking way too much. Just go in there and be yourself.

Go in with your contacts, but don't just interview...CHANGE your contacts during the interview. They will see your dedication to your "eye-health" and they will know for a surety that you are dedicated to a sanitary dental career.

Also, I have a metal leg, but I was thinking a wooden leg would be more traditional. I was also thinking of wearing an eye-patch as well with all of this pirates of the carribean static. What do you guys think...wooden or metal leg? Eye-patch, or no eye-patch?

If you go with the wooden leg then you should bring your parrot with you to be on your shoulder. However, if you go with the metal leg than forget the parrot and bring your nice shiny hook instead to accessorize with the metal statement.

A metal leg might give you some problems passing airport security.

No no no! If you go into the interview with the pirate theme, the interviewers will think you're considering Caribbean dental schools. Since everyone knows Caribbean dental schools are inferior, they'll think you don't have what it takes to succeed at a REAL one.

Finally, a useful thread!! Somebody make this one a sticky!

Guys I think we're really hurting rezzdawg here. He had a valid question and all of you are giving him ludicrous answers. I would never do anything like that and you should be ashamed of yourselves for messing with someone?s future.

Rezzdawg, I think what everyone here is trying to say, in so many words, is: Under no circumstances, go with the pirate theme. It is outdated and has been used by far too many dental students to be successful at this stage in the interview cycle. I suggest you dress up like a nazi, the schools seem to be very receptive to this.

What about the puffy shirt from Seinfeld

come on guys,

give the guy a break now.
at least its not as bad as that one thread :what did you eat before taking the DAT?"
