So, I guess I was an alternate for interview somewhere and somebody canceled their interview, so I got the call, and was asked if I could make it on short notice.

I quickly booked a ridiculously expensive flight, and told the coordinator that I'd be there.

Then, I started thinking about it ... they have only 1 spot, and they are offering 20+ people interviews.

Not that I'm in the position to not go to any interviews, but is there any hope of this place ranking me highly if I wasn't even good enough in their eyes originally to interview? I'm just thinking, even if I 'Wow!' them, is this a futile exercise or an actual chance at a spot?

Man, this seller's market position we're in really makes things tough. For the price of this ticket, I could have flew to London this coming weekend instead 🙂 ...

65 days till our fates are decided! Can't wait till this is over ...

think of it as an investment for your future. it really cannot hurt. i had a friend that had the same thing happened to him for an ER interview in boston. He ended up matching there. I had the same thing happen to me for a radonc interview at tufts and i didnt match there. 🙁

it really could go either way, and you never know...the gods could be looking down at you that day!

good luck

you have a chance.
Personally I have seen a number of people bumped up and down on a list becauseo f the interview. Ive seen ace folks on paper not ranked or ranked very low (the view is well we dont really want him but we can live with him) and some moved up and matching beyond their expectations because of the interview. It matters. Go.
