I have an upcoming interview at LECOM next month. I got their email with the attachments and it seems pretty straightforward to read and understand.

But asides from that, any other tips and suggestions to perform well during the interview process itself? Does the "interview" begin the minute you step onto campus or towards the actual interview itself?

Also, I'm terrified of flying but I hope this works out.

Thanks,

Congrats on the interview! When did u send you app out? I'm still waiting to hear back from them..

I am waiting as well. They put my application on hold "to be reviewed again in 60 days" Did this happen to you? I am hoping now that the semester is over, I can do the academic update in AADSAS and now get some interviews. I applied late (in Sept) but feel that I have decent stats

In the school specific questions part of the forum, there's a thread on interviewing at LECOM. People have listed questions they were asked. Read it. Use the search function on this forum. People interviewed in the past wrote a lot about it.

If you're interested in LECOM, email their admissions coordinator. Being in contact with her really helps.

As for the interview, I can't remember anything to tell you specifically, but just be calm. Please don't be nervous or stutter, because I felt horrible for the people in my group who were...just have confidence.

I stuttered here and there (first group interview) since everyone was looking at me BUT I was firm with my answer. be sure to be confident!👍
i was fiddling with my hands underneath the table due to the tension.

Just be yourself!
Don't get too nervous, sure you'll have a little bit of nerves like everyone else, but don't let it get the best of you! (Speaking from experience)
The adcoms are really nice, Stephanie, and everyone else.

Read the school specific thread as there are quite a few tips in there.

Good luck! :luck:

Day starts off with a presentation about PBL, then Dean presents about the school and the program itself, then you are divided into two groups, one group will interview while the other go on a campus tour, then the group switches, you break for lunch, and lastly a financial aid presentation and how you'll pay for dental school.

As for the Interview, it's pretty general questions about your opinions and possible experiences with PBL, tell them something they will remember about you, what you like to do in your spare time, experiences with underserved areas...honestly, I lost my train of thought in the middle of answering a question but I didnt let it get to me. Just be honest in your answers and don't make it seem like you rehearsed it. Good Luck!

Eat breakfast because all you'll get is lunch from them

I thought the dean and Stephanie were very friendly along with the interviewers. The students there seemed to like it when we interacted with them during lunch. I agree with previous posters on trying to mention stuff that will make you stand out and make the interviewers remember you. It's ok to be nervous initially as I was (I never did a group interview) but once it started and things flowed the jitters disappeared altogether. Good luck.

The Dean made himself perfectly clear that LECOM is a general dentistry school and don't come here if you want to specialize.

I did well in my interview and they put me in alternate list right away 😡

Wish me luck guys! Any more tips? I have the Why Dentistry and Why LECOM questions down in my head....anything else?

Check out the LECOM acceptance thread. Lots of people have given great pointers for the interview on that thread. Specifically, the middle of the 6th page.

Best of Luck!

Thanks! Those were some great pointers.

A few of those questions would stump me though because I haven't done any "underserved" community work....just basic shadowing at a dental clinic.
