Hey Everyone!

I have an interview at NOVA on April 14th. I just wanted to know if anyone on this forum has had an interview there and if so, how was it? What kind of questions do they ask you? I want to be well-prepared. I am an older applicant-28 to be exact. I have been out of school for quite some time. I am very nervous about this since I have never before had an interview for professional school. Any insight on this would be helpful also if there are any articles or websites anyone can recommend on interviewing, that would be great also! Thanks for all the helpful advice.........

Hey texasgal. If you do a search for "possible interview questions" there will be tons of past forums that can help you out. Also, I had an interview at NOVA its with two faculty members, and its really laid back, you have nothing to be afraid of, just be yourself, be energetic 😀

By the way, thats if you don't mind, which optometry schools did you apply to? Is NOVA your first choice?

I have an interview at Nova on April 7th...coming all the way from BC, Canada! Anyone else out there interviewing that day?

There's no need to be nervous. I interviewed with Nova a few months ago. It is a very nice school with a wonderful admissions team! They asked me some expected questions (why optometry? why nova? greatest strength/weakness? How I relax? etc.). They, also, asked me what I would do in certain clinical situations (all of the applicants I spoke with got different scenarios). This was a little stressful and there really isn't a way to prepare for these types of questions. I think such questions are asked to see how well you react to stress and if you can think on your feet.
Of course, you should know yourself and your motivation for pursuing a career in Optometry. I would advise you to be ready to ask some questions and use the interview as an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the school. Remember you're going to be spending a lot of time studying there. It is just as important that the school seems right for you as it is that they feel you're a good fit for them. Thinking of the interview in these terms made the process easier and more meaningful to me.

Don't worry, they are very relaxed and friendly. As far as being older than the rest you'd be surprised what diversity of ages are in our class this year (starting with 50 and all the way to 19 years old), I am talking about first years at NOVA. Just be ready to ask questions (anything, like test schedule, attendance, safety, even weather or about residency programs (it makes them think you are thinking ahead)). Best of luck to you. Aida

Hi,

I also applied to PCO, ICO, SUNY, Pacific, NECO, PR, U of H and NOVA. So far, I have only received an interview with NOVA. I improved my OAT scores significantly from my Oct OAT so I hope that I will have some sort of chance.
We will see what happens!!!

Who on this forum is going to NOVA for sure?

Check the top thread in this forum. It shows where everyone has been accepted, and if there is an asterisk next to their name, they have decided to attend that school.
