I am kind of nervous because I am an international student.
I heard that there is a wirting test? is that right? can you guys tell me what the writing was about? And there are two interviewers, but interview is 1 : 1 interview. doest that mean that there are two kinds of interviews?
Please, help me. my english sucks. I will appreciate any tips and information for the interview at UCSF.
Thanks~!

hey man i interviewed at ucsf. There is a writing example (test if you want to call it one..but it's not really a test) during the interview. They give you the topic of the day and give you 10 minutes to write it down. I think they aren't lookign so much that you answer the question correctly as much as that you can communicate your point in a clear, concise manner. That's about all i know about the writing portion. You can try searching in SDN to find more helpful info.

Regarding the interview yes tehre are 2 interviews- 1 with a faculty member and 1 with a student. Both interviews are pretty much the same. The interviewer will ask you a set of questions and you answer them. I think the reason why UCSF has two interviews is because they want to have two opinions about you from two different perspectives. If you didn't know, UCSF's interviews are closed interviews meaning they know nothing about you...just your name. So you have to remember to give them as much info as you can during your interview. Hope this helps

Thanks a lot~!
your tips and advice should be helpful for my interview.
I am sorry, but can I ask two more questions?
1) where did you stay? can you recommend one place to stay for me. Could you see any hotel or motel within walking distance from the school?
2) I heard that after january, the interview is for waiting lists, not for regular spots? how did you feel like that during your interview?

hey man,

i stayed at home since i live right across the bay. So as far as hotels or motels i'm not quite sure...if you want to stay IN the city then it'll be $$$. But if you're taking an airplane or dont midn driving for like 20 mintues you can stay at some hotel near the SF Airport.

as far as interviews and stuff i have absolutely no clue. I was fortunate enough to interview in october, the second interview session in fact. So dr. alexander didn't really mention if this was for hte waitlist position, etc. since we were some of the first people being interviewed
