Hey guys, just wondering for those of you who got interviewed at UCSF, what do you think of the interviewee?? Were they scary or more laid back?? Please please share.. I would really appreciate it!!

Thanks a million 🙂

good luck to you all!!

i thought i got a horrible interviewee. He/she asked me actual questions that were pretty hard, and some of them i didn't know the answers to, so i felt like i gave a crappy answer. Other people got interviewees which were more laid back and conversational. So i thought i didn't do too great, but i got in on dec 1. it was a big surprise so i guess i didn't do that bad on my interview after all.

also, for the student interview, you should take it seriously since They evaluate u just as much as ur faculty interview.

good luck on ur ucsf interview!!! when is it btw?

oh ic ic, do you mind sharing what kind of questions they ask you?? Is it like hard core questions on dental profession ??? i haven't set up a date yet, I just emailed Bob, but he's out of office till tomorrow so hopefully I'll hear from him soon
Hey CONGRATS for getting in.. hope I'll have the same result as you!! 🙂

why do u want to be a dentist?
describe ur research?
why do u want to go to this school?
i see ur in the pacific dental program..so is ur 1st choice dental school uop?
describe your family members who are dentist?
any questions for me?

the hardest questions was: for all the students being interviewed today, you are all excellent students with good gpas and dat scores, you are all hard-working or u wouldn't be here today, so what makes you stand out from the rest of them? Why should we basically choose you over them?

you're young, do you think your age is a negative aspect that will hurt you in dental school?

be sure to bring questions!!

Just go over your 2ndary essays, thoroughly. Most of the questions your interviewer(s) is/are going to ask you are on your 2ndary essays. The only question that threw me off in my interview is how my friends describe me as a person. I strongly encourage you to sit-in one or two D1 classes, especially the preventive restorative dentistal science class, also known also disorganized dentistry, and see if you would like the school. Your student tour guide may be bias on positive sides of the school. You really have to experience it yourself in order to see if the school fits your personality and talents.

Thanks a lot for the info.. I really appreciate it 🙂
btw, how did u prepare for the interview??

what kind of essay do we have to write about at the beginning of the interview day??

What three characteristics would you like to change about yourself?

Describe a time/event where you are proud of yourself?

What challenges have you overcome?

Mine was conversation, with all non-dental related questions about me as a person.....prep for silly questions like above. Also have good questions for student interview at lunch, because he/she has a big say. Also have good questions for Dr. Perry in the am.

The essay was thirty minutes on the question of the day. Ours was related to mentors who has influenced us. Good luck!

We have to write an essay on interview day????? I thought that was only Michigan..... 🙁

nah... i did essay at 3 interviews, namely the UC's and USC. I guess cali schools like it 🙄

Hey! guys,
Can you tell me about the essay?

for the essay, they change the question everytime this year. They know that all the pre-dents talk to each other on this site, so they don't bother using the same ones anymore

i got the one SFPredent wrote above since we interviewed the same day

does anybody know the whole purpose of writing an essay during the interview day?? what are they looking for?? are they trying to compare our addsas essay and the essay during interview?? *curious*

Half the reason is to see if you are literate (to see if someone else wrote your ADDSAS essay) and the other is to see how you can think under the gun.

I think I jacked mine up pretty good but still got in so maybe it doesn't have much weight. Who knows??
