Hey guys,

I just got the call for an interview at Western U. Pretty stoked 😀. I wanted to know if you guys could provide insight to the whole process. I tried to search for other posts but wasn't successful. This is my first interview and I want to knock its socks off!!!! Any insight to the process/question type/atmosphere would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations. The interview process at Western can be pretty chill if you are prepared for it.

I don't know the entire process, but you start in the morning and go until about 1:30pm. You have your interview in the morning -usually with 2 faculty members. It is a 'closed book' type of interview, meaning that they have no idea what is in your file while they are interviewing you.

The questions are behavioral type questions i.e. "Describe a situation in which you were able to use persuasion to successfully convince someone to see things your way". To get more examples, just google "behavioral type questions." I would practice them before you come. Know of a few situations that you can use for answers.

You have your typical financial aid presentation, curriculum presentation etc. You have lunch with a few of the students (maybe me) and then the students take you on a tour of the campus. You will also meet with Dr. Harkless sometime in there -depending on his schedule.

Western puts a lot of emphasis on you as a person, rather than your gpa and MCAT (although those are very important). People with above average stats have been denied acceptance, so just have your game face on.

Good luck. PM me if you have more Qs.

Make sure you got your story or reasons on why you selected podiatry down solid. Biggest tip I can give you. Most schools just want to make sure you know what you're getting into because they don't want people to quit on them after realizing that podiatry is something that's not for them and that happens every year.

Congrats!

Like darazon said, be ready for the behavioral type questions. Sounds cliche but just be yourself! They are really basic, but you definitely don't want to stumble through simple q's like "when have you shown leadership" or even the obligatory "so tell me about yourself!" Of course be prepared to discuss your undergrad academics as well.

And as stated above, always know the question to WHY PODIATRY? Be passionate, be enthusiastic, and you'll be fine.

Best of luck to you and maybe we'll see you during your lunch that day!

Thanks for all the input guys!!! I guess I should start focusing on those behavioral questions. Any suggestions on the method of attacking them while i prepare? Is their anything else I should do to prepare?

Hey guys,

Does anyone have an idea about the number of behavioral questions are asked during the interview?
