At my Erie Interview last week the majority of the guys had on a tie clip. I wore one.

Looks silly and pretentious to me. Certainly doesn't add anything to your appearance.
Either you eat and/or sit with your jacket still buttoned (silly), or your tie goes flying all over the place and into your food
I've.. never had that problem.
Depends on the diameter of your tie, I usually tuck my tie between the 2-3rd button from the top......OR you can be really fancy and buy a tie clip.
Two words: paper clip
I'm not as conservative as JT is as far as tie bars/ clips go. I actually like them.
Still, I'd be weary about wearing one to an interview (know your environment). If you're interviewing at a school in a city? Probably not a big deal. If you're interviewing in BFE? Yeah, just stick to a paper clip/ nothing at all.
I like em too. Similar to what you said, west coast is very laid back, so a tie bar would not be expected. East coast I would imagine in the cities they would be a norm.
They are not "the norm" in east coast cities. I rarely see working professionals wearing them. Mostly young people who are trying to look important.
That's not a fair statement. Tie-bars and watches are really the only professional jewelry men can wear. When they are small and subtle, they look nice and serve their purpose. When they're huge and distracting, they're just that: distracting.

One should always have a watch on with business attire, IMO. Especially a suit.
