I have struggled with interviewing and I am trying to figure out which consulting company is best. I have narrowed it down to BeMo academic consulting and medschoolcoach. Does anyone know anything about either of these companies or which one maybe the best? or do you have a better option?

First of all, if that is your real picture, I would change it for the sake of anonymity.

As far as consultants are concerned, I think they are a complete waste of money, because there are lots of sources that you can take advantage of for free. Check with your school's career center, professors, advisors, physicians you know or anyone else that can give you objective input. Also, check out the interview feedback portion of this site, AAMC, and other online sources about questions to expect. Good luck!

my problem is getting my idea across fast enough from the question that is asked. i answers are rough need help with that and doing mmi

I probably going to because i just need a lot of practice

There's only one way to get good, expose yourself to the interview conditions as many times as you can. Ask clinicians, profs, residents etc. to interview you, sign up for mock-MMIs if your school offers them.

I was shaky as hell in my first interview. I was giving other interviewees tips in the waiting room by my 8th.

Hi heebeejeebies. How many practice sessions do you think you need to do before you get comfortable with the format?

I did 4 one-on-one mocks with people who have interviewed in the past. MMIs I ended up getting better as I did more actual interviews, went from waitlist on my first one to accept on the rest.

I know a couple of friends who used bemo academic consulting for MMI/interview prep last cycle and they were happy. I think it's best to call them yourself. Good luck on those interviews! 🙂

Anyone on this thread have any tips with regards to improving timings for MMI preparation - seem to be really struggling with this at the moment.

Thanks for this Gonnif, also found this helpful: which came up in the Youtube suggested videos from your link above.

Lots of free material out there which is great!

Also, was wondering if anyone had any MMI book suggestions. I see a lot come up on my Amazon searches but any personal endorsements would be really welcome 🙂

Hi OP - just curious if you ended up getting any professional help with your interview prep?

As someone who actually provides consulting services I tend to agree with the above. The first thing I tell people who contact me is they most likely do not need my services. Often they just need 15-30 minutes of guidance, often to the sources mentioned above. In a few case non trads with full time jobs and family it may make sense to use a consultant simply as more cost-efficient use of their time.

I suggest to any student who really feels the need to go this route with a consultant, you likely only need an hour or two of coaching and you shouldnt pay for more than that.

BTW, here is link to MMI resources including youtube . I am sure there are many interview ones as well

Thanks for these 🙂
