I've received and accepted several in-person interview offers thus far and received an offer for a preliminary phone interview to possibly lead to another in-person interview. I've checked the department's website and it appears that the interview for the latter will be in January, possibly conflicting with my existing interview appointments (every program seems to prefer scheduling interviews on Thursdays and Fridays), though they might offer more than one date. Since I'm already having a phone interview with the POI, what is the protocol after that if they offer an interview and I can't make it due to the scheduling conflict?

Would it be good to offer visiting on a different day even if it is not with the other applicants? A Skype interview or would that be redundant with the phone interview?

You should go on the interview instead of the date. You only get one shot at getting your doctorate, but you can always get another date. I mean really, how desperate are you? You're going to be a psychologist dammit! 😀

Wait did I read that wrong? Never mind. Just go with PBCocce's strategy. 🙂
