Interview Date Question

OK. I got invites at Touro NV and LECOM Erie..

Lecom is Jan 18th

and Touro gave me the option of Jan 15, 28, 29 and Feb 25, 26 (there are more dates that I can not make because I will be in Hong Kong)

Now.. what should I do about scheduling the NV date?

I am scared to book NV for Jan 28 and 29 because I am leaving the United States on the 30th.. I am scared there will be a snowstorm in Chicago and flights will be delayed from NV coming back in and therefore I might then miss my flight to HK.. what do you think?

Then.. should I schedule for the 15th? I am scared of this same thing happening since I would have to leave the 17th to drive 8hrs to Erie... buuuut also NV is my last choice school, and if I got into Erie I don't want to waste 500+$ going to Nevada.. but Erie doesn't guarantee me anything either.. so I either make it the 15th BEFORE going to Erie.. or in Feb. once I come home (I return Feb 20th)... what do you think???


help, sorry... Ive asked my family for advice but neither I nor them have a clue about what to do.. right now I am thinking I should try and book it for the 15th, and if they wont allow me to do it that date (I dont know if they book up? its my first interview i dont know how these things work) then I will pick ones in Feb?

That's a tough decision but at the same time without already having an acceptance somewhere I think it would not be the best idea to push it back to the end of February. Definitely don't schedule it for right before you leave for Hong Kong. That just sounds too stressful. If I were in your position I would go ahead and schedule Touro for 1/15. Who knows, you may end up loving it.

eta. i just really want to go to school close to home and lecom isn't that far (I HOPE!!).. my boy cant move away from chicago because he has a firefighting job here.. and that isn't exactly transferable 🙁..

I only had to fly to one interview so I'm not sure if I can be much help. And hopefully I read your situation right.

Given how the weather is/will be getting, and how a decent number of flights do end up getting delayed, I think you have a valid reason for not wanting to fly so close to your trip or your LECOM interview date. While I think you would be back in time for LECOM if you chose to do this, remember that you'll be driving 8 hours on the 17th after flying in the day before only to be at the school at 8 AM on the 18th. Doable, but it doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

I'm trying to remember LECOM's turn around time from interview till notification. I think it was a couple of weeks.

If I were making this decision, I think I would schedule one of those February dates in NV. You avoid possible complications from flying, you may hear from Erie by then, and you can talk about your Hong Kong trip in the interview.

I guess that's my two cents, but see what some other people think.

schedule it for the 15th and taht way if its ur last choice and u make mistakes, ull be able to fix tehm by the time u go to erie cuz ull have taht previous experience...personally, i did worst on my first interview

Sorry, I must have missed earlier about how this is your first interview. I would try the 15th then too- waiting for the first one is killer and it'll be nice to have one over with. That way you'll also have the experience for Erie.

Would you be flying into the Las Vegas airport? That's the furthest west I've been myself. There's slot machines all over the terminal.

thanks for replying!.. haha.. now you have both answers.. and both sound good, that is my problem!! My sister thought I should go to NV to get interview experience for Erie.. and I guess that might be good.. I am just so scared of the flight thing and not getting in in time.. though I think that at the latest Id be getting back sometime the 16th if I was delayed.. because I plan on taking an evening flight back home so Id end up back in Chicago the night of the 15th.. well i still have to call NV and see.. and talk to my mom since she is going to front money for the flight..

I would take the first date available. And are you sure the 15th is still open? I scheduled my interview about a week ago and the earliest date they had was jan 29. Maybe I'll call back to see if there were any cancellations.

yeah.. i was worried that would happen anyway.. because i got my invite after someone else on here and they scheduled for the 28th so i assumed it was because the 15th was closed. i guess that makes my decision 10x easier then 🙂
