Who's got what and what's been good? Personally, if I'm ever the Dean of Admissions I'm going to have 4-alarm chili or baby back ribs to see who the real men are.

Or maybe Chicago style footlong chili dogs.. Something really really messy right before the afternoon interview so the guys mess up their ties.

OK. Wisconsin had a sandwich, you pick the meat when you confirm the interview. They didn't have any coffee in the morning though. Creighton gives you bagels and coffee after an extended intro, however the M1s 'join' you for bagels/coffee and are like sharks at a feeding frenzy! Also, they hardly talk to you its more like a cocktail hour. Nebraska has coffee and pop and muffins/etc available all day, then a catered lunch which changes by week. Case has fruit and pastries with coffee and juice before the morning session, then a sandwich lunch with a pesto salad. Lerner has coffee/juice and pastries in the morning and takes you to the Clinic's dining room for a boxed lunch. I'll add the rest later

I'm basing all of my decisions on the lunch. So far, it's been all about box lunches. Cornell had a nice tuna salad. Though Yale gives you a $10 voucher for the cafeteria, I had a really nice grilled chicken.

That's nothing. Temple gives you $10 worth of their cafeteria, which goes a lot farther than at Yale. I went to my interview with my pockets stuffed with Rice Crispy Treats to eat on the way home.

Jefferson and Penn State and Hopkins had all these little hors d'veoures-sandwichy-type-things and chips and cookies. I think they must all get them from the same company...or they recycle them amongst each other, perhaps?

USC's was, by far, the best. It is at the faculty center! I had pasta with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, and pine nuts. 🙂

Everywhere else has been sandwiches or vouchers for the cafeteria.

they have salad bars right?

Dude, why would they make you pick the meat when you confirm the interview??

*cooly* I'll have a sam adams.

mmmmhmmm b!tch

You have a choice between turkey and roast beef. I think there is a non-meat option for wusses or girls.

UMass had a HUGE turkey dinner buffet spread. I had morning interviews so I stuffed my face. I feel bad for the afternoon interviewees because they hardly touched it...

Mmmm, can't wait for my interview now! 🙂

Vanderbilt gives you a cafeteria voucher and it's good food. Arkansas serves breakfast, sort of. Bagels, donuts, and coffee.

Hey UCLAstudent, what did you think of USC?

Oh my gosh, I LOVED it. Everyone was so friendly there, and the school is definitely on the rise. They are building a new paperless County hospital which will be completed by the time we would be MS3's. Keep in mind that there are some "issues" with the surrounding neighborhood, but it didn't seem too bad to me, and I go to school in Bel Air. 😉 Good luck with your interview! When is it?

UIC is pizza and pasta from this place called pompeii...it was really good.

To top it off, you get your choice of chocolate cake or cheese cake.

Yes, I heard about the neighborhood :scared: I was in LA over Christmas break, but I didn't get a chance to go check it out. I figured I'd be there in February anyway. My interview is on Feb. 16th. I would like for UCLA and UCSD to send me those interview invites so I would only have to make one trip to the left coast  I'm out-of-state so I am not holding my breath on those invites. We'll see what happens...

I'm glad to hear you liked it. That would be a weird transition, UCLA to USC  Cross town rivals! Good luck to you! :luck:

I'll have a samuel jackson 😎

Duke was nice because you knew before you got there that they would have the boxed lunch that you chose online. Similarly with Penn's lunches.
Einstein was also nice because they gave a cafeteria voucher as well...not sure how much it was worth but I got WAY too much food with it prior to an interview!
NYU was sandwiches and such, I think...as was UF.
UM had pasta-y type food, I think...
Drexel's was nice because they had a voucher for the cafeteria but it was weird for me because the student interview was during lunch and I was nervous about eating while talking.

That's what we learned in our business school etiquette training 😴 Don't forget the breath mints though 😛

UVa's lunch was amazing - they had it at the place where their faculty eat. There was a chef grilling salmon right there and really good quiche as well. Dessert can't be missed, either.

If I were to pick schools based on their lunches... my list would be..

1. UVA - As EpointH said. It's amazing. Sitting down in some colonial building for a freshly cooked meal. And then getting to choose dessert off of a dessert tray. Gotta be the best interview meal there is.

2. Mayo - Eating at their cafeteriea, but you get a good selection and it's comfy

3. Colorado - Sandwiches and chips, but the sandwiches were good and the view of the mountains was tempting.

4. OHSU - Sandwiches and chips around a big table.

The best thing about all of them so far... Having interviews overwith before the meal so I don't feel so nervous that I'm going to throw up my chips.

Good Luck to all

Most schools I visited were great--except for two. Columbia's was by far the worst--we got to the place where we were supposed to have lunch and they had nothing except packaged snack foods available! Our tour guide had to ask the guy to go downstairs and make sandwiches really quickly. It was somewhat fitting given how disorganized the rest of the interview day was, but still. Northwestern's lunch selection was fine, but the meal ticket amount they gave us was barely sufficient to cover a sandwich if I remember correctly.

University of Minnesota gave you a cafeteria code good for as much food as you wanted. We all went hog wild.

I find this pretty ironic because UVA's undergrad food is notoriously crappy.

I was just going to say that...I got some ben and jerrys, a salad, a gyro, a bunch of other stuff, coffee to go...I heart MN

Here's my food critiques of the places that I attended:

VCU: They give you free reign. So buy anything you want. I got a salad, soup, a sandwich, soda and cookies. Yah...I was stuffed. I didn't want to look cheap so I didn't take extra snacks for the road. The only thing you can't get it, I think is Blimpies...anything else in the cafeteria is game.

USUHS: They were extremely apologetic for not being able to pay for lunch...something to do with governmental stinginess. There were donuts, coffee, etc in the morning though.

CCLCM: In the morning there was coffee, OJ, and some donuts....since I am going here next year...I am gonna have to have a talk to them about this. They really need to get better food. For lunch, we ate in a privte room in the Founder's dining hall...we got a packaged meal with a sandwich, etc, etc. It was okay. Again, they need to step up on this...the food could be better.

AZCOM: I think you get a voucher worth 5 dollars. Got some food...reminded me of living in the dorms.

I think if schools tried to spend about 7-10 per person...it would really impress students...Forget the long speeches about how good my school is. They really need to show it! Its sad...Especially when you talk about top tier schools...i think it makes a difference. its a big shame when schools like columbia (which was reported earlier didnt have a lunch) dont have their act together.
