Interview duration?

Hi everyone,

I have interview for IM nextweek, I am just wondering how long does a typical interview take, b/c mine is scheduled from 8:00 to 1:00. What are the common question being asked?. I am really nervous about it, please give me your generous experience based advice.

Usually 3-5 interviews lasting 15-30 minutes each.

Basically your med school interview type questions. You should buy Isaakson's residency guide to get an idea. (or search for a thread since it's been discussed here before; not sure if the search function is back up yet)

Yeah, the interviews themselves usually aren't very long, but you'll probably have a few. The interview day generally consists of a presentation about the program, a tour of the hospital, and interviews, with time to interact with residents mixed in there somewhere.

And the book is Iserson's, not Isaakson's. 😉
