I just an II (yay) and there's dates ranging from early august to late september. i know it's important to interview early but in no way am i properly prepared for an august date. my school is offering free practice interview with its SOM early september and i would like to go to that first to get practice. so is it a detriment to sign up for a late september interview?

A poor interview will hurt you more than a 'late' interview (and, honestly, the difference between August and September seems rather trivial, especially since the DO cycle is a bit longer/later).

If you need the time, I'd say take it!

unless you are prone to panic attacks or unbearable anxiety, you can easily prepare for an interview within a month. all you have to do is go over your essay and 2ndary, think about some ethical questions/some broad current events, go over talking points of the med school in particular, and, most importantly, stay calm.
