I am sure a lot of you are in my shoes. I applied to 6 school and have been lucky enough to get 5 interview
invitations. It seemed good at the time but now with 3 interviews down and 2 to go I am running out of money for the last interviews. If only I did not have to eat. I am thinking I will cancel my last 2 interviews and cross my fingers that something happens with my other schools. I know 2 of my schools I had interviews have sent out some acceptance letters but they told me I am still being evaluated.🙁

Yeah me too, so far I have been on two interviews and a third school has invited me but had to decline due to expensive traveling cost. I have one exceptance however but are waiting to hear from my hometown school. I'm sure you will get into one of the schools you have already interviewed at, warm wishes.

I am kind of in this same pickle now also. I live in FL and have interviewed in Tenessee, Mississippi, and Philadelphia. I got into the Philly school, kind of waitlisted in TN, and rejected at Mississippi. I just got an interview invitation today from South university in Georgia that I really want to take because I was interested in the accelerated program. I have already sent a deposit in to Philly and Nova, which was my first choice, but I want to have more options. We will be driving to Savannah, but it still will cost for the hotel, so I am not sure. =/

i know how you feel! i just got acceptance into one of my top choices today, but already booked a flight to chicago for another interview. not sure if i should cancel it and save whatever money i can between the flight, hotel and car rental or just go for the heck of it. but i have definately racked up some large bills after 3 interviews thus far. i've turned down 3 other interviews mainly because i can't afford it anymore.

As far as hotels go, I suggest trying to stay in a hostel 🙂 I know it sounds lame, but it can be pretty fun and you meet interesting people and go check out the unknown city with them. It is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper, too! See if you can find someone that knows someone that works for an airline. Buddy passes freaking rule!

Or ask a friend or a relative to help you out. The more people you ask, the more likely you will get some aid? I don't know your situation, but that's what I would try to do.

Think of it this way, if you don't go to the last two interviews and your first three schools rejected you, the wait for another year is much more expensive and time consuming. Put it on a credit card and work harder to pay it off when you have time.

FYI, you can deduct travel expenses for job hunting and school-related costs in your tax deductions. It all goes back to you in the end anyways....

If you're thinking of saving some money, then go to one more interview and make sure you ace it by being 100% prepared and ready to impress the interviewers.

I had almost 400 and just let it go to waste, should have done someting. 🙁

I would definitely try and go to the interviews until you at least get one acceptance. I know it's expensive (my first interview alone was about 500 dollars because it was out of state (flight-200, hotel-100, 30 min shuttle from airport to hotel and back - 100, food, etc)... but it is totally worth it.

Like someone else said, if you don't have the immediate cash you can always charge it if you already have a credit card and try and pay off the balance as quickly as possible. If not you can try and ask some supportive family members to borrow some money (I know I hate asking my parents, but they offered to help since they knew it was important).

I'd keep going until you hear back from a school though for sure.

I do not have a credit card so that option is not available. My parents have always taken the road that college is your choice and at your own expense so everything thus far has been paid with loans or money I have earned at work. I will now just cross my fingers and hope that things work out for the schools I have already inteviewed with the last few weeks.

A skydiving buddy of mine used a service and I think it was called Couch Surfer, or something along those lines. Basically, people will advertise that they'll let someone crash on their couch for a night, etc.

Cheap, I'm sure. Maybe Bob's right in saying you should just try to ask friends and family for help. 😀

Going to interviews is expensive but it totally pays off in the end. I got offered 6 interviews and went to 5 of them. In the end i got accepted to 4 schools and waitlisted for one. I spent at least 2000 dollars because all the schools i applied to were out of state. I'd say play it safe and keep going to interviews until you get at least one acceptance.
