My school has conducted interviews with dental school admissions deans and officers and compiled the answers. One of the questions was:
How do you recommend students best prepare for an interview?
Here are a few answers:
"One of the best things candidates can do is anticipate questions they are likely to be asked and then think about answers to those questions. In doing so, they must remember to avoid becoming too rehearsed in their answers. In our view, there are no right or wrong answers to interview questions, only truthful ones."
"I recommend that applicants look at the sample interview questions on our website. Sitting down with someone and practicing the sample questions on our website is helpful, I think, especially since a student may be nervous when interviewing with someone he or she knows."
"I recommend that students visit studentdoctor.net, which discusses interviews at different schools."
So, are these admissions officers/deans encouraging dishonesty?
I understand why ASDOH or MWU would not want interview feedback about their schools, because they ask each applicant the same specific questions. But to say that using the interview feedback is dishonest, is silly.
I interviewed at MWU and Dr. Simonsen did ask us to refrain from sharing specific information about the interview questions. I respect that. I did, however, use the interview feedback to prepare for other interviews. I was accepted to MWU, but will not attend, which was probably a good idea becuase lfhansen might have been in my class, and he would have called me a cheater.
