I was at an inerview a little while ago when the admissions afficer admitted to me that she looked at interview feedback quite a bit. That she only did so for benign reasons (seeing what interviewees had to say so that they could improve), but it still seemed weird. She said that all admissions people at different schools she knew looked it.

In hindsight it makes sense, but it shocked me a little when I was there. I guess I'd never thought about it. t seemed like an inside thing. So I was a little weirded out when thinkning of admissions people looking at it, and also with her candor in telling me. Just thought I'd let everyone know and see what you think.

i decided not to put my interview feedback in for that reason. it would be really easy to identify people on there (b/c you put the date and often details about the interviewer), and i didn't feel comfortable putting negative comments in until after i've heard back from schools. i might enter some in after i've heard from schools.

of course they read it. and sometimes things said about their schools here on SDN gets back to them too. There was an incident last year or the year before (can't remember when exactly) when someone's premed advisor or dean called the student in and handed them what they had written on interviewfeedback because the school had contacted them about it...it may have been their 'home institution' - i can't recall the details. As some schools actually advertize interviewfeedback and SDN on their webpages it shouldn't come as much surprise that they have actually looked at the contents occasionally. Having said that I very much doubt any dean is sitting reading every post about their school in these forums.

I just attended an info session w/Deborah Erdner - Dean of Admissions at PCOM - and she actually recommended the site (both SDN and Interviewfeedback) as resources for applicants. I'm sure she glances at it occasionally, but really pushed it as a good place to get info on the schools and their interviewing styles.

As far as being linked to your comments in the forum - don't say anything online that you wouldn't mind seeing on the frontpage of the newspaper w/your name attached to it. You just never know when it'll bite ya on the ass 😉
