Does anybody else find that they're being influenced by their co-applicants on interview day? There were a couple of programs that might have otherwise not caught my attention, but I had so much fun with the other interviewees that I wanted to work with them for the next few years! Also, on the other end, some really strong program had a few humorless applicants interviewing with me that was a touch of a turn-off.

To the current interns, do you find that the personality of the applicants you interviewed with for your program tended to reflect the personality of the people that ultimately ended up there? Just curious... 🙂

Though I did like most of the people that interviewed with at my program, generally, I'd say no. Remember that personality is one thing that, for the most part, you can't get from the ERAS application. That's a big reason that programs interview so many people (turns out there are applicants that we don't like much, either). I'd focus more on the personalities of the residents and staff that you meet and less on the other applicants. Maybe 1-2 of your fellow interviewees will match with you--the people that are already in the program are, well, already in the program.

Having said that, I did have an interview day that I liked all of the other applicants much more than I liked the program itself. We had a great time before/during/after the interviews, and it was hard to separate that from my feelings about the program when it came time to rank.

The title of this thread made me think of something else.
I definitely have interviewed with at least 2 other posters on here, and it makes me smile inside that they didn't know who I was. (Smiling because I am trying to be secret, and these people aren't, so it wasn't hard to go "oh yeah, I know who that person is")

There were a couple interviews where there was one person I was like "Man, I wish I could see that person's ROL so that I can avoid them", but then I realized that if they acted the same way during their interview, it probably wouldn't be an issue.

I didn't have many of those moments, but I can totally identify because there was one interview with 2 people from the same school, and one of them referred to the other one by a nickname while we were hanging out, and I was about to say "hey, isn't that someone's username on SDN?" but instead I decided to just smile and keep it to myself. 🙂 funny!

Pffft...you think we didn't know who you are, unless there's more than one ninja dressed in a suit.

Although I stay relatively anonymous, I keep wondering if regular readers/posters will recognize me from my personality and choice of words.

Or just from the fact that you'd probably be the shortest person in the room. 😀

I take the mask off in the daytime. The mustache though, it is to die for. People often talk about it. (only makes sense if you're following the strip).

Crap, some of my nerdy friends call me by my SDN name (also my email). My non-existent cover is blown.

Two people that I interviewed with at two places each that ended up in my program. One of them I was stuck on a train with for 2 horus and then we ended up interviewing at a second hospital.

Had a great time both with each of them.

Sim stories from tohers in my program but NYC is a 'small' market and people tend to run into each other if you are heavily nyc focused
