I got an interview from UCSF and I scheduled it today. They told me that the earliest day i can be interviewed is in January. When did you guys who got interview invitations this past week from UCSF schedule for interviews??

Another question is that what if i get an acceptance letter from another school in December? don't i need to send money to that school to save a sit when i get that letter? UCSF is one of my first choices and I would really like to go there. If i get accepted by UCSF after january, I think i will be wasting a lot of money. what do you guys think? and what would you guys do?

I know someone who got an interview this last week and scheduled their interview in January as well. If I were in your position, I would put the $500-$1000 down (depending on the school of course) to save a spot in a school while I wait for the verdict from UCSF. In the long run, you'll be saving money @ UCSF anyway b/c it's a state school. However if you don't get in, you don't want to end up waiting around until the next cycle (which would end up costing you more in the long run than the money you would have had to put down originally!)

Well said ! If your interview at UCSF is in early Janurary, you might be able to wait your deposit of the other schools. After all, you have until Jan 15th to make your decision. Go to UCSF interview and see if it's really the school for you. Gauge how you did on the interview and decide. Ask UCSF when's the earliest you'll find out. It might be very soon after the interview since you don't have to wait for any official timeline. My point is you have until Jan 15th to reject or accept the offers sent out on Dec 1st. You do have plenty of time to decide. But like Edie830 has said, it's better to put out the money in advance to save a spot than to regret not doing so later on. A few hundreds dollars or at most 1000 dollars won't make a big difference later on.

Cheers! Good Luck!

I second Eddie830?s recommendations unless you?ll receive the acceptance letter from UCLA or Loma Linda (which looks like a cheapest school in CA) on Dec.1st.

Good luck.
