If I get the interview invitation, does it mean that my academic stat is no longer valid ?
Or do they still consider my academic score and the interview result ?

The reason I am asking is that my academic stat is not good,
So if they only consider interview result after they invite interviewers, it is going to be super good to me.

Anyone knows ??

Probably depends on the school to which you refer in this case. I think some schools have a scoring system with interview performance and stats, where other schools seem to set the interviewees on more of a level playing field on interview day.

Although I could be wrong, I doubt most schools just throw away stats after interviews and base their decision solely on the interview. They will most likely still consider GPA, DAT, EC, residence (IS/OOS), US/int'l and all that jazz.

Neither is your writing. I hope someone edited your personal statement for you.

Sorry if you had trouble reading my post. I do have bad writing skill and that is because I am an international student.

I was really excited yesterday when I got an interview invitation but sudden I got nervous because I thought that most school would not want to give me an interview invitation.

However !!!! I have one finally !!

I just hope that interview skill is much more important than the academic skill for the interviewees so that I might have better chance !!

I cant wait !!!!

Good luck! Make sure you do practice interviews at your school or with your friends. 👍

P.S. Check out the interview questions that were asked in previous years for an idea of what you will be asked. http://studentdoctor.net/schools/?view=dental

P.S.S. Don't let snarky comments from people that don't know you on these boards bring you down, be glad that a school is interested in you as a possible student for their program next year! 😉

I know for a fact (Adcoms told me ) that at Case, they give about 350 interviews, and they put every single person interviewed in a spreadsheet, and then they cut the 80 people with the top scores. As soon as I got into my interviews, the adcom told me that I was a good candidate, but also told me to think about other schools or plan B, just merely by looking at my stats, because she said that there was more competitive people. The other adcom told me about the spreadsheet and how they tend to select the top 80 out of the 350 from the spreadsheet in Excel that organizes names based on GPA and DAT.

Some school like unlv actually have a formula that go by to help calculate and weight your stats such as gpa, dat, pat, rc, and interview score.

According to this... You are saying that the interview doesn't even matter?

thats what both of the ADCOMS said, so yeah?. which made me think if it was useless for me to go all the way there and waste my money in airfare and hotel, knowing out of the bat that I wouldnt get in. But w/e. thats just Case. I have no idea bout other schools.

Doesn't Case make you write an essay when you interview? The entire interview could be to get you there in person to write the essay; thus making sure you didn't use consultants to write your P.S.

It's a secret test of character!

Nop. They Dont make you write an Essay. 2 one on one interviews, then lunch and questions with 1 or 2 students

I think some schools don't interview to accept but rather interview to reject (so the interview isn't gonna make them decide to accept you. It's if your personality is off or you do something rude or don't match up with your application that they then reject you)

This makes sense. Doesn't Case accept like 80%+ of OOS interviewees? Out of the 350 they interview, they cut the bottom 80. But if someone from the pool of 270 they were planning on accepting selects themselves out of the pool, then they take people from the group of 80. The bottom 80 would basically be interviewing for a spot on the waitlist.

Case Western DOES make you write essays. When I was there for an interview, I wrote 2 essays.

Ummm...no. According to the ADEA 2012 stats, Case had a class of 75. There's no way they're giving out 270 acceptances for 75 spots.

Case gave out 253 acceptances: (39 IS; 214 OOS-page 32 of your guidebook).

Case has low yield so it gives a lot of acceptances to fill their class. 253 is not exactly 270 but it's pretty close.

Sorry, my mistake. I knew some private schools had bad yields but accepting 3.5 for every seat seems crazy. Especially considering Case isn't even among the most expensive private schools (close though).

Many school practice yield protection where they don't accept excellent candidates who probably won't go to their school in order to inflate their yields. Case seems to be following a model where they don't care about their yield and try to compete with top schools for the best students. This makes sense if you consider what ppflow said: if they accept all their interviewees with the highest stats, many are able to get into and will go to cheaper schools.
