yea, it was an email invite. They sent an email saying that my file was complete, then an hour and 10 minutes later an email with an interview invite. i'm sure you'll be hearing word shortly. 👍

question for lecom-erie-ers: how are you getting there? i'm from nyc and it's approx a 7.5 hour drive...any suggestions on a better/faster way to go?

I find that avoiding the little state routes helps more than anything. Even if the distance is longer, you can travel much faster by sticking to interstates. If mapquest or randmcnally says 7.5 then I'd think 6.5 probably.
 
For my lecom-Erie interview I will be driving from Lehighton, PA up to Erie. It's like 7 hours as well. I'm taking interstates and going the night before and getting a hotel, don't want to be all groggy from driving that long!

I am driving from NJ, and will be taking the interstates. I am leaving a day before and getting a hotel room there. Who knows, a drive maybe pleasant, some say it is rather scenic... Also, plane ticket to Erie is around $900!!!

you get to pick, but the only options I saw were for the mnoth of September. There might have been a button to click to a different month, but i didn't notice it b/c I was looking to schedule it as soon as possible.

edit: i tried to go back and look to see if there were options for dates in october/november, but since i already picked my date it wouldn't let me see any other options....sorry

indeed I am. sunny los angeles to.........des moines. Yikes. haha. I'm excited though. Should be a good trip.

I dunno if they had this link in your confirmation email, but they have a student host program where you can stay at a students house instead of payin for a hotel. I called and asked b/c I didnt see anything mentioned about it, and it turns out they do have that type of program. just thought i'd pass on the word in case you wanted to save a few extra bucks.

are you gonna be leavin that friday? I was contemplating whether or not I should come back the next day so that Friday I could tour the city a little bit, maybe get a feel for it. But i dunno, I feel i wouldnt make a very good tour guide and would just end up bored in my hotel or something.
 
Thanks for the heads up on the student host thing, I'm looking to save a buck wherever I can as I don't have too many of them to go around! :laugh: I think I'll probably take advantage of that.

I'm flying out friday, like you said I think I'd just end up sitting around the hotel watching some lame show on cable if I stayed any longer.

I need to contact DMU again. I emailed them and they said they'd get back to me in a day and never did. I'm still baffled why I was even denied a secondary. I have a 3.4 and a 25 now, with a second mcat coming out in a few days. Not to mention research, volunteering, more shadowing than 99% of premeds, and devilishly good looks.

That'll swing the decision in my favor. "Well, we thought he was everything we weren't looking for in an applicant but he DOES have a massive c**k!"

6'5" really? I thought I remembered you shorter like 6' like me. And the whole massive wang thing it's best to let them find out first hand or from word of mouth never tell them directly; just what I've learned from the Tally bar scene.

Interview invite came via snail mail. I never received a "file complete" post card. This is the first contact I have had with Touro since the secondary.

I never get a file complete card from Touro. I thought that is what I got in the mail today, until I opened it. It totally negated my second crappy MCAT.

So, how many interview invites do you guys consider the magic number? I keep thinking it will only take 3 or 4 to get one acceptance. I'm hoping for more of course, but if I hit 4 then I will be more than happy at this point.

hey if it means more interview invites we should continue to follow each other around!

I don't really know what the magic number is. It seems on average schools have ~50% accept rate from their interview pool. I think if you have a 50% of getting into each school and you have 4 interviews your chance of being accepted at least one is 93.8%, 5 schools 96.9 %, 6 98.4%, 7 99.2%, 3 87.5%, 2 75%. I am currently have 4 interviews (2 DO, 2 MD) and couldn't be more surprised or happy at this point. I never expected to have this many this early.

they said I was complete...and then all of a sudden I received an email saying that my application was on hold....they certainly know how to put a damper on application season🙁

they sent me a secondary a while ago, and then this morning i got an email saying i didn't make it into the first interview pool, but they'll keep my application for further review....an early rejection basically....

I have 3, but those 3 were all with my 25 MCAT. I only raised it two points, which I'm really disappointed in considering it is 10 points below my practice averages, but I hope I'll get a few more now. I'm really pulling for FSU since I'm in a rural area near Tallahassee. I am considering FIU a lower chance. They seem to offer a lot of interviews for those 40 spots. So I'm going to say 20% for that one. 😛
 
What rural area near tallahassee?? Also, a 27 is good. Upper end for most DO schools. What is your sci and overall GPA if you dont mind my asking. From my experience FSU places a strong emphasis on these, especially if you are an alumni.

Wakulla county. My gpa is like a 3.4 overall and a 3.1 cum. It is important to note that I don't have many science classes, and many that I did were from my freshman year where I had about a 2.0 or 1.8 gpa or something. I have a strong upward trend, so we'll see.

I'm not exactly an "alumni" although I'm enrolled as an undergrad there now. I graduated from another university.
