Last year, I found the official interview thread to be very useful. So I figured I would start one again this year. SO once you receive an II, please post the school and the date you received the invitation!

I'll start...

just kidding, I've got nothing, yet.

How many II's is equal to an acceptance on average?

How many II's is equal to an acceptance on average?
There really isn't a reliable number for this. Some people only have one or two interviews and get an acceptance out of it. Others have 9 interviews and get no acceptances (though this is very uncommon). If they invited you to an interview, it means that they think you would be a good addition to their school. Whether or not you get accepted after interviewing is based largely on whether or not you presented yourself well and seemed not awkward, arrogant, rude, disinterested, or otherwise unappealing in your interview.

The number of interview invitations you get is based on how good you look in your primary and secondaries. The number of post-interview acceptances you get is based largely on how well you interview. Since these two things are very different from each other, we can't say with any sort of certainty how many interviews a person would need to feel confident that they'll get an acceptance.

How sure are we of this? Let's say there are 2 candidates that have interviewed, one with much worse stats than the other. Are they really both equal post-interview in the eyes of the adcoms and are solely judged on their interview performance and not on their stats?

I think Pitt has already granted a couple

I probably worded my previous post poorly. I wasn't trying to imply that the interview is the sole basis for the post-interview decision; I was more trying to address the notion that you can reliably predict the number of acceptances you will receive based on the number of interview invitations you receive. In my opinion, you cannot reliably do this.

While your primary and secondary are still considered when they make the decision to accept, waitlist, or reject you post-interview, your interview is also a very important part of their decision. Since this is true, part of the decision is based on your interviewing skills. Since receiving an interview is based only on your primary and secondary, people whose primary and secondary applications are exceptional will be invited to interviews. If these same people are really great at interviewing, they'll probably get a lot of acceptances out of those interviews. If these people are decent at interviewing, they'll probably get a few or several acceptances. If these people are very bad at interviewing, they will likely get no acceptances, regardless of how many interviews they were invited to. While the primary and secondary are also important parts of the decision, it is unlikely that schools will accept someone who comes off terribly in his/her interview, regardless of how amazing that person's primary and secondary are. Since interviews are an important factor in making the decision (though there are other important factors), I just don't think we can reliably predict how many interviews a person needs to be invited to in order to feel confident that an acceptance is imminent.

Search the forums and check out the thread for last year. This should give you a good idea.

I'm asking in light of the fact that schools didn't see applications until July 1st this year

I'm pretty sure they received primary applications on June 27th last year. This really shouldn't make much of a difference in the timing of interviews since they only received primaries 4 days later this year.

That template is above my head, so I'm just gonna post like this.

Interview Invite at UNMC for August 29th (received July 8th). I am an early decision applicant. Please don't bother with the, "Why EDP. You're dumb and stuff." It's done and over.

I'll put it into the template for you. I am going to make a note that your interview was for early decision so that people don't get freaked out that they're already inviting people to interviews for regular decision. Also, could you please clarify which school UNMC is? I know of multiple medical schools that go by this abbreviation.

Pitt and Chicago have given out IIs already, I'm just not sure when they first did.

Pretty sure Pittsburgh's earliest was 7/7, if any one would like to add that in!

I know submitting secondaries asap is best, but is early August still early enough? My letters won't be in until then.

My rule of thumb if have secondaries complete by the time you would be returning to school if you were still an undergrad. AKA mid-August. Sure you'll be fine, especially with your higher stats.
