Speak of the devil, St. Luke's just emailed me. Thanks the deities!!
I have been literally spam clicking my refresh email button for the last 20 minutes because there is only one date I can interview here. I got the day thank goodness.

The programs that let you sign up first come first serve over the internet are nice because you know instantly when the interview is, but I can see how someone could end up getting screwed. The link has been open only 5 minutes and over half the dates are already gone.

Luckily, I got the date I wanted (so that it would be during my off-block), but I checked my email at like 12:06 PM lol. Good luck to the both of us!!

Anyone hear anything out of GA or SC? Seems like the schools in the Southeast are slow to roll out invites.

I've heard a few people say they've heard from Atlanta VAMC, but I haven't heard from any GA programs. It seems like some of them had later deadlines though, like earlier this week.

Emory has sent out interview invites.

hey guys, has anybody ran into problems with programs all interviewing on the same day?
it seems like all my programs are interviewing on feb 6 or 13..
what's the most diplomatic way to ask them to interview you on another date...??

Just got rejected from wake forest....they had 215 applicants....jeez
215? they only have 4 spots! OMG highest I have seen.
Utah had 166
Mayo Clinic had 110ish
U of Kentucky had 105
those programs all have more than 4 spots!
what makes Wake Forest so popular?

Just curious, how do you know how many applicants there were?

Also, this seems like the most competitive year for residencies to date and that sucks.

because I applied those programs and got rejected
it was stated in the rejection email "we got this number of wonderful applicants, unfortunately, you are not selected"...

the competition is only going to get more fierce

If those 2 dates are the only options they give you in the interview offer, I'm not sure you should ask for another date...most programs sound pretty set in terms of scheduling. You might need to prioritize and decline some.

Some programs do whole day interviews, but some do morning and afternoon -- are your programs close enough that you could potentially interview twice in one day? lol. Not ideal for sure, but I don't know what else you could do.

I would say that programs understand applicants interview at multiple places and asking if another day would work is appropriate. It's bound to happen to a lot of us, I wouldn't stress about it.

🙁 Sorry to hear. Seemed like a tough program. How many more responses are you waiting on?

I'm still waiting on 8 programs.. Got 3 onsite interviews, 1 rejection, and 1 saying that they have received my application.

i thought so too! i wonder how many applications Duke received. They requires 4 letters instead of 3, sometimes i wonder if that would reduce the # of applicants

I've had that problem somewhat too. I have programs that make you pick like 3-4 possible days, then those days are tied up when other places offer interviews. Hasnt caused me to have to ask for new date yet, but it may if some of these places don't hurry and assign my interview date. Very distressing.

I just received an email from a reach program before noon 🙂. I also received an email around 10:00 the other night EST. I guess its whenever they feel like getting to you.

I never had a program call me for an invitation, thank God. Dunno why, I'm just not fond of the idea of potentially answering the phone while I'm in the dressing room at Nordstrom, trying to speak over the music (true story, didn't happen with residency invites). Everything I need to know can be communicated easily and quickly via email. I guess they are trying to make it more personal, or sense if you're a nut job based on your phone etiquette?
Are you applying for PGY2?

anyone hear anything from northwestern? i got an email last week saying decisions would be sent by the 18th but that's a sunday...

Is that for all of Emory? Or just one of the locations? I haven't heard anything from any of them...I wonder if it is a silent rejection...

I meant specifically EUH, don't know the details on St. Joe's and EUHM. Won't send out rejection emails until everyone has committed to an interview date.
