Hmm, I think NECO took a little while because they were slower to get things going initially, but they may now be comparable to the schools like SUNY and IU, who responded to my application within 1-2 weeks I think. (though if some of them say you're on the wait list or no decision list, I don't know that that'd help) And yes, many people apply to multiple schools and within those have a ranking, so it makes sense if, for instance, you applied to 5, had your top 3 picked out, and ideally wanted to wait until you heard back from all and then only pay the money to visit your top 3. Of course, you can also always schedule the interview at UMSL, see what you hear back from other schools, and then cancel the interview to UMSL if you get invites to more schools you'd rather go to.
