That is definitely not appropriate. You need to wear a pant suit/skirt suit. Here is some info our pre-dental advisor gave us regarding dress code:
Attire
Men
- Suit – Ironed!
- Tie – can be unique- however nothing too crazy (wild colors, cartoon characters, etc)
- Polished shoes – *COMFORTABLE*
- Dark socks
Women
- Suit or dress, pants are fine
- Not too long, not too short, nothing low cut, please below the knee
- No short skirts. If wearing a skirt, wear pantyhose
- No modern embellishments on suit (ribbons, ruching, etc)
- Polished shoes - *COMFORTABLE*
- No five inch heels; you will most likely be walking a lot during the day. Some schools
will allow you to bring an additional pair of shoes to change into for the tours.
Question about colors?
Suit:
Try to keep it a neutral color: black, dark colors (gray, blue, etc)
Pinstripes are ok, if they are on a solid dark background (eg black with thin, white stripes)
Dress shirts (men and women):
Most wear white, but you are welcome to wear a different color. It's a nice way to make
oneself stand out, but not too much.
Advisable to dry clean/launder/iron your suit before the interview (if you haven't done so in
a while)!
Hope this helps!
