I couldn't find similar thread so I thought I would make this.
This is to post interview moments (mess-ups) that keep replaying in your head.....
Reasons for this thread: 1)Would be great if someone would provide feedback on how bad it really sounds.
2) great things not to fall into/do during future interviews 🙂
My mess-up:
I just had an interview yesterday, at a school that I consider my top choice, I walked in to my second interview feeling confident that my first (with medical student ) went really well.
Interviewer: so how was your day?
Me: "I really am fascinated by the welcoming and friendly environment here it has truly exceeded my expectations"
Interviewer: "hahahaha so your expectation were low when you first came in?"
Me: " no no that's not what I mean ..... tried to explain that I meant the school student's body and faculty were more friendly then my previous experiences.
THEN: at the end of a somewhat good interview, the interviewer shakes my hand, holds on and says "think highly of us" and all I could say was "I will.....aaOF course"

then I left, with this last line replaying in my head, I feel like he thought I didn't think highly of the school, while all I tried to say is the opposite 🙁
How bad does this really sound?

First off, you didn't really answer the question to be honest, he asked how your day was, not what did you think of the school. You tried to do too much with a simple question. There isn't anything you can do now, just send a thank you letter and make it clear that you loved the school and what not. Take the experience and make sure that doesn't happen again at future interviews.

I really think "Think highly of us" is a good thing. You said you had some-what good interview, so your chances are still good. What he meant is that we are good Medical school and when we accept you, do not refuse/choose another school. Cheer up

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure you are not the first nervous interviewees he has seen. I would even take it as a positive interaction given that he joked with you and laughed about it.

Lol you're fine. Stop stressing - nothing you can do now! As @Goro has said many times on SDN, applicants are notoriously bad at judging how a particular interview went. Sometimes the ones that feel the most uncomfortable have the best outcomes and vice versa! In my personal experience, my perceived "worst" interviews happened at the places where I was accepted!
