Hello,
I'm currently applying to D.O. schools. All of my materials have been submitted, except for my letter of rec from a D.O. The reason for this is that I live in an area with relatively few D.O.s...even my PCP, who is board-certified in holistic medicine, doesn't know any in this area (the only one she knows is across the state! 🙁 ). I've contacted a D.O. through the osteopathic mentoring website who is willing to let me shadow, but I can't begin until next month (because of his schedule, not mine). I do already have a letter in my file from an M.D., however. Does anyone know if the schools will go ahead and review my chances for an interview without the D.O. letter? Should I explain the complication to the school's admissions office directly? Or should I just wait until I get my letter, even though that may take another month? Just curious.... 😕
FYI: I'm applying to NSU, LECOM-FL, PCOM, & UNECOM.
