Hi,

When you get an interview offer with certain available dates, how quickly should you respond to the offer? Should you wait and see what other interview offers you get so you can group together the interviews, or should you just respond to the offers as they come? I was just wondering if all the spots for interviews would be taken up if you waited to respond.
thanks!

I had to make a few changes to a couple of dates. They did not seem to mind. I guess it really depends on how many dates exist.

i try to respond right away....but, as more come in i may have to reschedule some. but, my feeling is that i want to grab 15 interviews, and then i can get picky and eliminate or trade after that.

for geographical grouping, i have 2 things i do. first, i applied only in 2 regions, so that makes it easy. then, i set dec aside for one region and nov for the other. i figure most programs offer dates in both of those months. then, i do my best to get in convenient in that month, but if not, at least i am within 1 or 2 states, so travel is minimized.

Depending on the specialty, some programs send out more invitations for interviews than they have spots. I think you would much rather have a spot and then try to change it, rather than miss out entirely. I would respond as quickly as possible within reason (i.e. 24 hours)
