Could we please start a thread for example/often-asked interview questions/themes that we should be prepared for as we embark on the journey of fatigue and debt? Thanks in advance to all those who have gone before us and could contribute!

My biggest piece of advice would be to have a lot of questions for them - residents and faculty because there seems be a lot of "do you have any questions."

I was asked many of the questions previously mentioned above.
Plus some others.

1. Some who apply to rad onc also apply to other fields.
I was asked "Did you apply to any other fields?"

2. What are your interests?

3. Would you be willing to move to this area?

4. Where are you planning on doing your intern year?

Yeah, I had the same experience. I think alot of that is that the interviewers run out of things to ask heh.

pretty much. BUT i will say a lot of times interviewers want to get the interviewee talking to see what comes out; you learn a lot by listening and letting them get on their own threads.

Exactly. I had an interviewer last year ask me to just talk about anything I wanted, essentially formulating my own questions and answering them. That definitely caught me off guard.

And Yes, definitely have lots and lots of intelligent questions to ask, and look interested, even if this is your 20th interview asking for the 100th time questions which may seem trite and artificial.

I did get some questions on a talk I had given at my home insititution (one of the faculty members who helped me with the talk also wrote my letter).

Also, questions on my interests outside of medicine and where I saw myself in 5,10 years from now.

"The American Board of Radiology recognizes the shortage of physician investigators in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Oncology. To address this shortage, a research pathway has been designed for general and specialty radiologists and radiation oncologists to train as basic and clinical research scientists. This new pathway is called the "ABR Holman Research Pathway," named for B. Leonard Holman, MD who first proposed this initiative."
